To-Do list and stuff

Start of a year, I always have grand plans for the website at the start of the year...... let us see what I can achieve huh?

  • Replace the gallery software : the old gallery won't work under safe mode.
  • Setup other domains : a few websites will be hosted here under their own domain names, for other type people
  • Redesign of main rantspace : yes... it is that horrible time again.... where I throw everything out and try again.... actually I won't throw that much out visually (I still like it), more a re-design on navigation and features
  • Customize or replace Movabletype : I like movabletype, but I'm finding some aspects of it limiting .... we'll see how intr'acte's community site I'm developing works out, we may transfer to that system
  • Gaming@rantspace : A member site for the gamers amoungst us.... where we can organise LAN days and such without emails bouncing everywhere and without the whole world knowing

Droidy and I are really happy that rantspace is being used by people to rant or whatever.... and yes.... it is an easy and slack way to keep up with friends [:

If you do change the forum engine, please put one in with a spell checker!!!

Posted by: Sparker on January 14, 2004 01:42 PM

sparker - I'm the one that needs the spell checker! I am the worst offender! I am trying...trying not to be lazy!!! Or type up in word first...

(suggestion noted though)

Hmmm.... something has changed already..

Okay. I'll bite.

What's changed?

Posted by: Moby on January 22, 2004 09:47 PM

I know what changed! You took the thingy off that said 'occasion already passed'

and added that latest comment thing?

Posted by: Em on January 22, 2004 09:47 PM

... that's not all that's changed... *grin*

Posted by: [0-0] on January 22, 2004 10:21 PM

the latest comment is on front page!

Posted by: b on January 22, 2004 10:21 PM

This isn't a guessing game....

/me goes off to hide wally/waldo somewhere on the page [:

Posted by: Decay on January 22, 2004 11:02 PM

Is it just me, or did the comment links on the front page stop working?

Posted by: Sparker on January 27, 2004 11:20 AM

Ahhhh.... It is just me. I had a comments window hidden behind the other 15 ie windows I had up (how I miss Netscape's panes). Sorry.

Posted by: Sparker on January 27, 2004 11:23 AM

Posted by: [0-0] on January 27, 2004 01:09 PM

comments?

Posted by: Decay on January 27, 2004 03:04 PM

Have now removed the showing of emails of comments..... too many spam scanners out there....

Posted by: Decay on January 27, 2004 03:14 PM

Looks great - nice and clean.
:-)

Are the posts now listed by date?
Does this remove the relevance of the categories?
I quite liked the categories, but I suppose this is now heading down the slashdot route of having a block of articels, all of which have a loose catagorisation. I suppose this makes sense, particularly if one category is getting updated frequently, while others are going stale.

I don't suppose it would be possible to put in a page for each category as a sort of secondary listing system? This way the front page would be the list of latest posts, then the archives would be sorted by category with the last 5 (?) shown as picture/summary, and the rest as headlines.

Posted by: Sparker on January 29, 2004 03:12 PM

... um... doesn't that already sort of exist?

/me checks ...

(click on the category headings under the main rantspace heading ... )

....Which really just goes to show what a friggin' good idea it was!?!?! :-)

Okay. I'll go and try to think of something original now.....

Posted by: Sparker on January 30, 2004 09:38 AM

...Now, back to a comment on the current layout. I think the removal of the categories is good, but I think it needs a divider between the "big" items and the headline list.

Wow love the hard work, you have the power.

Now post the referal.

Kind Regards

Brett.
